Product
Manager, Monitors 1987-1994
Managed and turned around the
monitor line by developing the Panasonic's PanaSync computer monitor product
line. Monitor sales advanced from $0.0 Million to $30.0 Million as a result
of combining technical knowledge with marketing expertise. Successfully
managed profit and loss responsibility for Panasonic's $30,000,000 U.S.
monitor product line, using a management-by-objectives style and directing
all efforts to meet the company's business objectives.
- Created the PanaSyncTM
and PanaSync/ProTM Trade Marks
- Established and administered
appropriate budgets for product line with sound controls and strong
follow up that achieved management's objectives for launching of the
PanaSync line.
- Managed Purchase,
Sales and Inventory (PSI) of product line and negotiated PSI with sales
force.
- Analyzed market,
anticipated market shift and developed and launched the PanaSync monitor
line. Modernized the monitor line by successfully negotiating the PanaSync
product specifications for the C1381, C1391, C1395, C1795E and C1991
monitors with Japanese factory engineers overseas.
- Proven record
of increasing market share of Panasonic's monitor business from 0.01%
to 6.7%.
- Developed new
channels of distribution penetrating the government and clone PC market
segments.
- Created ad concept,
inspired ad agency, authorized media, and copy for Starch Award winning
advertising for PanaSync C1381.
- Built strong
business relationships with manufacturing, sales and legal personnel.
- Lead presentations
to senior management, sales force, customers, and press and trade shows
attendees.
- Attended all
trade shows at which product was displayed and acted as key media contact
for product line.
- Supported sales
force with personal selling and by working closely with the Training
Department.
- Trained and
supervised Factory Product Specialist and Factory Engineer in tracking
U.S. market dynamics and trends with improved competitive information
generated.
- Discovered product quality problem
and mobilized Quality Control and Service Engineers preventing loss of
sales and increased returns. Spearheaded new product evaluation process
for monitors and coordinated with factory Quality Control to revamp production
controls.

Peripherals 1984-1987
Joined Panasonic in 1984 with
product management responsibility primarily for printers. Put Panasonic
on the map with an innovative printer line, featuring reinking ribbons
and print mode switches and superb near letter quality. Launched the KX-P1091,
KX-1092, KX-P1093, KX-P1592, KX-P1595, and KX-P3151 printers. Analyzed
market anticipating competitive weakness created budget, marketing plan
and promotions to meet the market.
- Reorganized
the printer line, advancing sales from $0.2 Million to $27 Million.
- Increased market
share of Panasonic's printer business from 0.02% to 7%.
- Broadened the
product line and created winning promotions and mobilized advertising
for printers.
- Created the
first print mode switch for the KX-P1091, Panasonic's first successful
printer.
- Developed cost
cutting measures that improved second inventory from $3.0 million to
$0.3 Million.

First desktop electronic printing calculator the MONROE Model 1220; the
highly successful pocket thermal printing calculator the MONROE Model
10; the first single chip calculator the MONROE Model 30. Developed advanced
printing, display, keyboard, and memory technologies.
- Advanced from
position of Associate Engineer to Engineer, to Senior Engineer and to
Senior Staff Engineer for Advanced Systems.
- Provided hardware,
firmware and software systems engineering services to this Fortune 500
company.
- Worked on the
development of video and advanced display technology, memory, systems
architecture, keyboard technology, hard disk drives, floppy disk drives
and other key technologies for personal computer and calculator development.
Wrote Engineering Specifications for these devices.
- Was responsible
for product development from concept to turnover to manufacturing.
- Visited vendor's
locations in the US and Japan to evaluate their capabilities, qualify
vendors and negotiate technical requirements.
- Defined Advanced
Engineering-Technology goals in support of corporate development in
the small systems market.

product support on personal microcomputer development projects.
